Wal-Mart Scraps Detergent Brands, Lowers Prices

Wal-Mart Stores stopped selling its low-price and mid-tier private label detergents, Great Value and Sam’s American Choice respectively. However executives have lowered prices of Huish Detergent’s Sun brand, which the company distributes. The 100-oz. bottle, now $1.90, has reportedly forced Henkel to cut the price of bargain brand Purex by 17% to bring it to about $2.50 in Wal-Mart stores, as well as bonus packs with 20% free product in other retailers.
